2D Animatic

2D Animatics are an animated form of pre-visualization created from hand-drawn illustrations. After initial sketches are approved for each shot, the illustrator adds full color and detail. The drawings are brought into computer software and cut into layers that can be individually positioned and moved. The editor uses these elements and matches them with audio to bring the artwork to life in a simple, but compelling 2D animatic.

3D Cinematic

Making a cinematic test spot is like making an animated film. “Actors” and “sets” are created in computer-generated artwork. This enables us to move the “camera” around the animated characters as they express a full range of emotions. Frequently, we use motion capture actors in order to recreate realistic human movement. When done properly, a cinematic can tell a very wide range of stories, from humor, to human warmth.

Photomatics tell a story through a sequence of photographs that are blended using real images of real people. Sometimes, we create photomatics by shooting original photography. Other times, we work with you to select imagery curated by the highest quality sources. The photos are cut into layers, carefully retouched, and assembled with subtle animation and camera movement to bring the story to life.

A ripomatic is an edit made from pre-existing film footage that is artfully rearranged to tell a new story. We start with a storyboard to guide us during our footage search. When we have enough video pertaining to the idea we can start adding the footage together to create a new narrative. A final round of color correction is added so the footage feels cohesive. In many cases, our artists are able to alter footage in such a way to make it feel like it was shot specifically for the brand we are working with.

Although 321Launch specializes in test commercials, we are, in fact, a production company and it is in the liveomatic category that we most resemble one. Our producers and directors assemble our favorite DPs and crews to work side-by-side with agency creatives to bring their vision to life on our own in-house stage or any other location that best suits the job. We also handle casting, wardrobe, sets and props. Finally, our editors and artists bring it perfectly together in our post-production facility.
